Training workshops on data management Open Science

The purpose of these two workshops is to support the development of data stewardship skills among staff in research performing organisations.

A key aim of each workshop is to empower those new to the role and to help foster a network of peers where best practices are exchanged and those with more experience can share their knowledge with those just getting started.

During each workshop the following topics will be covered:

  • Introduction to FAIR, Research Data Management (RDM) and Open Science;
  • Tools to assess awareness of the FAIR principles;
  • Data Management Planning;
  • Understanding Responsible and Open Research;
  • Assessing and planning levels of RDM service provision;
  • Pedagogy in the context of teaching the above and related topics;

These sessions are primarily targeted to professionals working in research data support roles in Higher Education or Research Institutions or individuals with a research background considering a change to a data support role. This can include individuals working directly with a research team with a deep background in a research discipline or someone working at an institutional level with a broader background. Applications from individuals who have recently started work in this area and are looking to expand their network are prioritised.

Applications from all regions to attend the workshops are accepted with an emphasis on applicants from Europe. Each workshop will be run on three half days over the duration of a week. Successful applicants must commit to attending all of the sessions for the workshop they are assigned to. The two workshops have the following start times

Successful applicants will be selected for:

  • Matching the above profile;
  • Demonstrating motivation to attend;
  • Demonstrating a willingness to data stewardship after the workshop to their own institution and to work with other colleagues

1st workshop: 29 November - 3 December 2021, 09:00 UTC.

2nd workshop: 6 – 10 December 2021, 12:00 UTC.

Each workshop will have a maximum of 40 attendees while only one applicant per institution will be selected. Emphasis will be on having applicant from as wide range of countries as possible. There is no registration fee and the deadline of the registration is 15 October 2021, 23:59 UTC.
