Fri May 22 08:51:09 CEST 2026
The European Research Council and the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina organise a science-policy event in Brussels on 29 June 2026.
Currently, the finalization of the so-called fifth freedom, including the free movement of knowledge, data, and Innovation is discussed in the EU. As mentioned in the expert reports by Letta and Draghi, in addition to shaping the political framework in this area, collective efforts are also needed from the scientific community and policymakers to ensure that these goals are met adequately and with the contribution of all stakeholders. To this end, a joint event will be held, organized by the European Research Council in cooperation with the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
The event is organised with the support of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts.
