Public consultation: REPowering the EU with Hydrogen Valleys (roadmap)

During the preparation of the Staff Working Document, the EC published a call on the Have Your Say portal, the so-called Call for Evidence. The call is now open for feedback until 16 August 2023. At the same time, an additional questionnaire has been created, which is also open until 16 August.

Hydrogen Valleys are seen as key to developing a clean hydrogen economy and achieving the European Green Deal's carbon-neutrality objectives.

The roadmap outlines the strategic priorities and actions needed to achieve REPowerEU's goal of doubling the number of hydrogen valleys in the EU by 2025. It also describes how hydrogen valleys can contribute to achieving REPowerEU's target of 10 Mt of domestically produced renewable hydrogen and 10 Mt of imported hydrogen per year by 2030.

In general, the design of policy making is usually as follows: 

• the EC prepares a roadmap
• a public consultation follows for 4 weeks
• the feedback received is transferred to specific proposals
• public consultation in the form of a questionnaire is open for 12 weeks
• final drafts are prepared for the EP

Both an institution and an individual EU citizen can send their feedback.
