Participation of EU-13 countries in EU Framework Programmes

Central and Eastern Europe (EU-13) are gradually strengthening their participation in Horizon Europe Programme. on the other hand, the participation of some EU-14 countries has slightly decreased. 

The EU-13 increased their share of Framework Programme from 6.7% (Horizon 202) to 8.6% (Horizon Europe). 

These countries also increased their participation in "widening". Their share rose from 11.6% in Horizon 2020 to 14.1% in Horizon Europe, as Daniel Frank from the Technology Centre Prague reports in his analysis here. 

Countries such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands have slightly lost some of their participation (in total from around 65.1% to 60.4%).

Other areas with increased participation in Horizon Europe compared to the previous EU Framework Programme were the topics Food, Bioeconomy & Environment and Civil Security.
