Open calls for applications for ERC grants

The calls for ERC Plus and ERC Advanced grants have been opened.
The ERC Advanced Grants call was opened on 28 May. Deadline is on 27 August 2026.
Advanced Grants are awarded to excellent Principal Investigators that are established research leaders. These Grants may be awarded up to a maximum of EUR 2 500 000 for a period of 5 years. The maximum amount of the grants is reduced pro rata temporis for projects of a shorter duration. In addition, it is possible to apply for additional funding of up to EUR 1 million to cover further eligible costs (e.g. major equipment or access to large facilities).

The ERC Plus Grants call is opened since 2 June 2026. Deadline is on 2 September 2026.
This type of grant is intended for projects that could not be carried out with a regular ERC grant. The applicants have to explain how the proposed project aims go beyond those of a regular ERC project (e.g. because applicants have a vision to transform their field or open a new field of research).
Under current conditions, approximately 30 ERC Plus grants will be awarded each year, compared to the significantly higher number awarded under other schemes. A given researcher can only receive one grant of this type during their career.
