Launch event of the European Defence Fund (EDF)

The virtual launch event of the European Defence Fund (EDF) is dedicated to the landmark adoption of the EDF Regulation and the EDF Work Programme for 2021.
Through the EDF Programme, the EU will be able to co-finance collaborative and cross-border research and development actions in the defence sector on an unprecedented scale. In doing so, EDF will support the competitiveness of the EU Defence Industry and contribute to the strategic autonomy of the Union and its Member States.
The event will feature two sessions, bringing together high-level decision makers and stakeholders of the European defence sector. It will showcase the results achieved so far through its precursor Programmes, the Preparatory Action on Defence Research [PADR 2017-2019] and the European Defence Industrial Development Programme [EDIDP 2019-2020]. It will also reveal the priorities of the first-ever EDF Work Programme. In this context it will also discuss a paradigm shift or EU cooperation in defence R&D.
The event will take place on 30 June 2021 from 14:30 to 17:00 CEST.
