Join a COST Action or design a new one
Wed Oct 04 14:18:00 CEST 2023
Until 25 October noon (CEST) it is still possible to submit a new COST Action in the 2023 Open Call. It is also possible to join one of the 70 new COST Actions announced on 12 May 2023. Learn about these options through recordings and presentations from COST Info Day, which took place on May 24, 2023.
COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) The event is an interdisciplinary research network that brings together researchers and innovators to explore a topic of their choice over a period of 4 years. COST Actions are usually made up of researchers from academia, SMEs, public institutions and other relevant organisations or stakeholders. Most important, however, is the added value of participation in COST actions. The experience gained through COST can then be used in European grants: 39% of the project proposals that were the result of the COST Action were successful in obtaining a grant within H2020. In addition, through the need to connect scientists from at least 7 countries whereby half of the countries should be so-called Widening (in the COST jargon the Inclusiveness Target Country, ICT), you may benefit ffrmo the desirable networking and sharing of experience across Europe.
1. Join announced events
Among the 70 new COST Actions the natural sciences are the most represented science field (in 49% of the Actions), followed by social sciences (27%), engineering and technology (27%), agricultural sciences (26%), medical and health sciences (20%) and humanities (19%).
A complete list of newly approved projects can be found here. Joining the existing COST Actions is relatively easy, and a step-by-step guide can be found here.
It is possible to join as soon as a new research action is launched, even if you have not been involved in the design phase, at any stage of the project duration.
2. Designing a new COST Action in the 2023 Open Call
In addition to connecting to the already established Action, it is also possible to design a new, own research network, this year until October 25, 2023, 12h (noon) CEST. Please, study the relevant Documents and guidelines, the whole process is summarized in this infographic:
