European Commission has adopted the ERC Work Programme 2026

The ERC Work Programme 2026 provides an overview of funding initiatives, proposal submission and evaluation process. It contains some novelties regarding the rules for submitting grant applications.
From 2026, applicants will structure their proposals into two parts: a five-page Part I outlining the scientific idea and objectives, and a more detailed Part II focused on implementation and methodology.
Applicants based outside Europe can request up to €2 million in additional funding to support their relocation. Also new grounds for extending eligibility for Starting and Consolidator Grants have been introduced.
A budget of more than €2.7 billion has been allocated for ERC grants for 2026.
