EU and Australia open talks on association to Horizon Europe

The representatives of European Commission and the Australian Government have launched non-binding exploratory discussions regarding Australia’s possible association to Horizon Europe.

The discussions will examine the details and principles of a possible association agreement. 

These are initial technical non-binding discussions on Australia’s possible association to Pillar II of Horizon Europe (and thus with the upcoming 10th European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation). The cooperation would include areas such as digital and space priorities, industry, energy and wellbeing of the European citizens.

The EU would thus follow up on the science and technology agreement between the EU and Australia signed in 1994 (with an amendment in 1999).
