EU Prize for Citizen Science

Apply for the prize for exceptional initiatives that deliver scientific advancement and social benefits, support communities and foster an open and inclusive civil society by March 13.

Citizen Science means the engagement of the general public in scientific research activities. The prize is intended to recognize projects whose social and political impact fosters the further development of a pluralistic, inclusive and sustainable society in Europe, especially in the fields of science and research communication with citizens as well as citizen engagement in science and research communication or participatory or artistic-led research.

In 2023 it will be awarded for the first time.

The prize includes:

  • a Grand Prize worth €60.000
  • a Diversity & Collaboration Award worth €20.000
  • a Digital Communities Award worth €20.000
  • 27 Honorary Mentions

Eligibility: any natural persons or legal entities, incl. (groups of) individual researchers, creatives, artists, and other professionals, research and higher education institutions and research consortia
