ERC Consolidator and Synergy Grants in 2022

Wed Feb 01 11:14:15 CET 2023

In 2022, 321 researchers from 21 countries received the ERC Consolidator Grant, while 29 projects from 19 countries received the ERC Synergy Grant.

ERC Consolidator Grants are designed for scientists who are 7 to 12 years after obtaining their Ph.D. and need to consolidate their position, career and teams. ERC Synergy Grants, on the other hand, are designed for small teams of 2 to 4 researchers/principal investigators from different disciplines to solve ambitious problems that require the transfer of theoretical and methodological frameworks between disciplines, i.e. cross-fertilization. In 2022, only two scientists from the Czech Republic received a Synergy Grant. The last representative of Central and Eastern Europe is a scientist from Slovenia, the vast majority of all recipients are from Western Europe or Israel. Only one scientist from a post-communist country, Lithuania, received a Consolidator Grant.

A list of all Consolidator grants and other statistics by scientific discipline are available here, for Synergy grants here.
