Conference: The Case for Democracy

The Conference will address the question what are the dividends of democratic governance.
The Case for Democracy Conference brings together leading scholars from various fields of expertise to share the latest, cutting-edge scientific knowledge on dividends of democracy with policymakers and practitioners, on a series of policy-relevant outcomes:
- Economic development (SDG #1, 8, 10)
- Human Development and Global Health (SDG #2, 3, 6)
- Education and Empowering Women and Girls (SDG #4, 5)
- Sustainable Environment and Climate Change Mitigation (SDG #13, 14, 15)
- Peace and Human Security (SDG #16)
- Public goods and Corruption (SDG #16)
The event is organized by the Varieties of Democracy Institute with support from the European Commission.
The conference will take place in a hybrid format on 30 November to 1 December 2021 online and in Brussels.
