Conference: New European Research Area

Wed Sep 22 15:01:00 CEST 2021

The Conference will focus on discussing the process of redesigning the European Research Area (ERA) policy framework, informing future European Commission policy initiatives, as well as feeding into policy-making work of the Council of the EU, the Member States and countries associated to Horizon Europe.

The event is organised under the auspices of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and is named ”New European  Research Area – Towards a Responsible Knowledge-Driven Society of the 3rd  Millennium”.

The first working session will be the Ministerial policy roundtable, taking place on 26 October. With the valuable participation of stakeholders, it is intended to discuss the context of the new ERA, translation of ERA priorities into national actions and policy reforms, as well as the external dimensions of ERA.

The second day, 27 October, will be fully dedicated to stakeholder discussions where four breakout sessions are foreseen, based on the three main ERA pillars – people, infrastructure, and economy - and an additional horizontal one on open science.

The conference will take place on 26 and 27 October 2021, both online and in-person meeting is planned due to pandemic conditions.
