Call for Proposals: Training and capacity building at Joint Research Centre labs

Fri Feb 10 11:07:26 CET 2023

Three laboratories of the European Commission´s Joint Research Centre (JRC) are open for scientists and technicians of chemistry, biosciences/life sciences, physical sciences, ICT, and foresight to boost their skills and future projects.

Both nuclear and non-nuclear facilities are open for researchers from EU member states. This way the visitors can develop proper skills, gain knowledge and ability to use tools, equipment and other resources needed to prosper in their current positions or increase the chances of their project proposals for the Open Access to Research Infrastructures programme.

Three facilities are open. Details about the conditions of access, eligibility criteria, other practical information and registration are under the links for each lab:

  1. Hopkinson Bar Facility, ELSA

The Hopkinson Bar facility (HopLab) is used for the study of materials and of structural components to very fast dynamic loads, such as those due to blasts and impacts, where knowledge of the material behaviour under high strain-rates is necessary.

Deadline March 31, 2023

  1. Reaction Wall, ELSA

The ELSA Reaction Wall is a facility of unique dimensions and capabilities, capable of conducting experimental tests on full-scale specimens for the safety assessment of structures against earthquakes and other natural and man-made hazards.

Deadline March 31, 2023

  1. Nanobiotechnology Laboratory

The Nanobiotechnology Laboratory features state-of-the-art equipped facilities designed to foster interdisciplinary studies. Priorities are the detection of micro (nano)plastics and the characterisation of nano-biotechnology based health products.

Deadline April 30, 2023
