Budget for science and research uncertain

Prime Minister Petr Fiala questioned the allegedly "official" draft budget for science and research at a conference at the CEITEC research institute of Masaryk University, where the Czech-Slovak conference Strategic Management of Science at the National and Institutional Level was held on 12 June, and promised that it would not look like this.
As the Vědavýzkum portal reports, Prime Minister Fiala said: "Last week, the bureaucratic draft budget for next year caused a great stir. I would like to stress that this is indeed a bureaucratic proposal and a first version. A number of adjustments and negotiations await us. [...] You can forget about this first version, whether it upset you as a representative of universities or disturbed you as a representative of the scientific community. That's not what the budget is going to look like."
