Technology Centre Prague presents an analysis of the coordination of research and innovation projects in the Czech Republic in the first two years of Horizon Europe.
From the original analysis authored by Daniel Frank from the Technology Centre Prague (in Czech only) and including comprehensive graphs, we pick only a few key and optimistic findings:
- In FP7, Czech coordinators represented 9% of the total Czech participations, in the H2020 programme - 13%, in Horizon Europe (HE) already 19%. The Czech Republic thus occupies the 14th place among the EU Member States and the 1st place among the so-called new EU Member States
- the share of coordinators in relation to the total number of participants in the country reflects the quality of the country's participation in the given Framework Programme
- moreover, the nature of coordinated projects in the Czech Republic in terms of research and innovation is close to the composition of the "old" member states´ composition of projects (for comparison with other "new" member states, Mr. Frank states that no research and innovation project has been coordinated in Latvia yet)
- in respect to the structure of projects, the Czech Republic is also approaching the "old" member states in terms of HE pillars and priorities - 70% of the funds are intended for the coordination of HE 2nd pillar projects, individual ERC grants and projects falling under the MSCA priority
- the "new" member states usually do not have sufficient personnel and organisational capacity to coordinate projects, so they usually coordinate projects with a smaller number of members (3-12), this is also the case in the Czech Republic, but compared to others, it coordinates a larger number of research and innovation projects (RIA and IA)
