CHANSE (Collaboration of Humanities and Social Sciences in Europe) is a joint initiative of 27 research funding organisations from 24 countries. CHANSE builds on the experience of the two existing HERA and NORFACE networks supporting research in the areas of humanities and social sciences. The programme’s total budget amounts to 36 million EUR and includes national allocations of 26 million EUR complemented by up to 10 million EUR in co-funding from the European Commission. The Polish National Science Centre (NCN) is the main programme coordinator.

The submission of project proposals consists of two stages. The deadline for submitting "outline proposals" is 21 September 2023 and for submitting "full proposals" is 26 March 2024. All the necessary information can be found here.

The scientific team from the CAS is also obliged to send the completed "Project Proposal Details" form to samalova@kav.cas.cz by 21 September 2023, which is here.

The conditions for financial support are governed by the national rules of the partner organisations. Each partner organisation only covers the costs of the national part of the winning projects. In the case of the Czech Republic, only scientists affiliated with the CAS are eligible applicants for financial support. 

The maximum total amount that the CAS will support a successful team is EUR 200,000 for the entire duration of the project (i.e. 24−36 months).

 

Past call

In March 2021, under this joint programme of humanities and social sciences, a call for proposals for multilateral projects focused on the thematic area Transformations: Social and Cultural Dynamics in the Digital Age was launched. The call supports new innovative research on the functioning, meaning and implications of innovation and change in the digital age from the perspective of social and cultural dynamics. Projects supported within this call started in September 2022.
